We are perfectly located a few steps, max 50 meters, from the 2 best surf spots for learning, soft waves with a simple entrance to the sea for beginners, right in front of the mouth of the Mendihuaca River and the perfect space of the river to practice the movements in water without waves. Loading the equipment is not a problem since we are very close to the wave and the bonus is that if you want to change equipment for a smaller or larger board, you can walk, change for no additional cost and return to the water. For the advanced surfers and for those who want to advance, right next to the beginner spots are the advance waves/spots and this is ideal, since you can walk, try a higher level wave and at any time return to the wave where you learned . We offer the best personalize, work/friends/family groups, surf lessons. You will count with the services of a great team work guiding you to fall in love with the surf and the sea. Mendihuaca surf is a beautiful space dreamed and founded in 2016 by instructor Monica Reyes. Thanks to the support of family, friends, several sponsors and together with the partnership of the surf instructor Tobias Maag, by 2019 the school was rebuilt for the comfort of all our clients right on Mendihuaca river mouth beach.
For amateurs or experienced surfers, the surf school is perfectly located in the middle of the 6 surf spots that exist in and beside Mendihuaca; Los Naranjos, Los Ángeles, Hotel Mendihuaca, Casa Grande, El Río Mendihuaca and La Platanera. We are also strategically located near attractions such as Tayrona Park 10 minutes / 10km to the west, Ciudad Perdida 10 minutes / 8km to the east, Buritaca 15 minutes / 14km to the east and Tayronaka or Palomino 30 minutes / 30 km to the east.

Remember, surf lessons are scheduled every day, as long as the sea allows it, at 8:30am and / or 2:30 pm, with the aim of being in the sea during the hours of less sun which are more comfortable for the eyes and the skin. 🙂

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE LESSONS, THE COURSES, RENTALS AND SURFING
- Bring (and use!) sunscreen and SINKA on the face
- MEN: Use elastic board shorts, adjustable to the waist and above the knees

Before the class or the rentals is nice if you write us to keep in touch with us at least 2 days before the class or the rent, so we can confirm the availability of the space and more importantly confirmed you if the sea is in optimal conditions for surfing. BOARD RENTALS
If you already had lessons before, you know how to surf or you are even a PRO!: we have boards for every need. Our boards are suitable for those that didn’t know Colombia had waves, the beginners, the amateurs and of course the new surf addicts 😊. Read more…
The boards range from all sizes, soft boards and fiber boards to Paddle surf boards (for those few moments without waves or simply when you want to go on some river expedition) . You can try every single one before deciding which one is right for youself.
All rentals include a leash and lycra/rashguard. If you are hooked and want to surf more than 3 days, we offer a special price for the rentals: $70.000 per day! Woohoo!
*Terms and Conditions: Remember that in rentals, the client is financially responsible for the rented equipment, that is, any damage or loss of the board, rashguard or leash has a monetary cost defined in the list of the surf school, which we recommend Check before using the equipment. SURF LESSONS
The lessons are given daily at 8.30am and 2:30pm for 2 hours, either in spanish, english or german. The surf instructor accepts a maximum of 4 students per lesson depending on the sea conditions. We want to guarantee high-quality, and do so by only providing small, personalized classes. Read more…
The cost of the lesson per person are $150,000 (private) and $100,000 (groupal), which includes the surfboard, rashguard/lycra/t-shirt and leash.

Our goal is to guarantee a quality lesson for our students, where you feel secure and happy meanwhile you learn.
We have the privilege of practising some surf techniques in the river mouth of the Mendihuaca river, without waves. As well the bottom floor of our surf break is pure sand, the softer bottom of all the surfbreaks options.
Entering the sea is done with 1 student at a time beside the instructor, providing personal guidance, our instructors will always keep themself with you as much as you need it, making sure you are calm and enjoying the surf at all time.
Because Mónica is one of the instructors, a surfer born & raised in Santa Marta. She has been surfing at the Tayrona beaches since 2002 as well as other waves of Colombia, America, the south of Asia and Australia. Furthermore, Monica is the only surf instructor in Colombia who is trained physically and theoretically with the Australian organization in surf rescue, www.sls.com.au.
Because Tobias is one of the instructors, a Swiss surfer, who brought his surfing experience to the school since 2018, after surfing since 2013 through waves and surf spots from South Asia, Morocco, the Caribbean until finally reaching Colombia, Santa Marta.
Here we merge Tobias’s experiences and learnings with Monica’s experiences and learnings to provide to all our clients the best surf service.
